Creative Cake Classes

A wide variety of classes are available for all skill levels.

We primarily offer classes in Hampshire, but we are willing to travel.

Specialised Masterclasses

A masterclass for cake decorating in a 1:1 setting is an excellent opportunity to delve into the art and techniques of creating stunning cakes. Here’s a detailed outline of what such a masterclass could include:


Duration: On average 6 hours 


Potential Session Breakdown


Introduction to Cake Decorating


 - Brief overview of different decorating styles and techniques.

 - Discussion on the importance of preparation and planning.


Buttercream Basics


Understanding different types of buttercream and essential tools.

 - Demonstration of how to make a smooth buttercream and variations like coloured buttercream.

 - Participants will practice applying buttercream on a pre-baked cake, learning techniques for levelling, crumb coating, and final smoothing.


Ganache Application


 - Making Ganache: Explanation of ratios for chocolate ganache for different uses (dripping vs. frosting).

 - Application Techniques: Demonstrating how to cover a cake with ganache and create a drip effect.

 - Hands-On Practice: Participants will apply ganache to their cakes, experimenting with different drip heights and finishes.


Fondant Essentials


 - Introduction to Fondant: Types of fondant and their uses in cake decorating.

 - Preparation: How to roll out fondant and cover a cake smoothly.

 - Hands-On Application: Participants will cover their cakes with fondant, learning tricks for avoiding air bubbles and achieving clean edges. This includes sheet covering and the panelling method. 


Sugarpaste Modelling


 -Introduction to Sugarpaste: Overview of what Sugarpaste is and its versatility in cake design.

 - Basic Modelling Techniques: Instruction on creating simple figures (like flowers, animals, or themed decorations).

 - Hands-On Creation: Participants will model their own decorations, with guidance on details such as colour mixing and texturing.


Finishing Touches


- Combining Techniques: Tips on how to incorporate buttercream, ganache, fondant, and sugarpaste into a cohesive design.

 - Presentation and Storage: Discussing how to properly store and present decorated cakes.


Every Masterclass includes Q&A Session throughout the course and also an extended period of 1 month of email accessibility to ask any other questions you may have forgotten to ask, want to elaborate on or troubleshooting advice

Participants will leave with their decorated cakes, printouts and recipes, and newfound skills that will enhance their cake decorating abilities. This one-on-one masterclass will be tailored to the individual's pace and interests, ensuring a personalized and enriching experience.

Piping Perfection:


 - Master the art of piping with different nozzles.

 - Practice techniques for flowers, borders, and intricate designs. Create your own Lambeth-style Cake. 


Modelling Magic:


 - Introduction to fondant and modelling chocolate.

 - Create fun characters or figures to decorate cakes.


Novelty Chocolate Orange Decorating:


 - Explore the art of chocolate orange decorations.

 - Learn to prep your chocolate orange and create stunning edible gifts. 


Class Structure

Duration: average 2-3 hours per class

*Minimum of 10 participants*

- Materials Provided: Ingredients, tools, and decorations.

- Take-Home Treats: Participants can take home their creations.

This laid-back Class will foster a fun and collaborative environment for budding bakers to develop their skills and enjoy the process. If you are a Hobby baker or a complete beginner these are great classes for any one wishing to learn a new skill… and of course have some fun!
